gauges arent working

i have an 88 tc and some of the gauges and turn signals wont come on unless i hold the ignition foward could this be the ignition switch

That would be my starting point, and I wouldnt waste time.  That makes me nervous for a fire.

Yes, replace it now. Don't delay, don't drive it until you do. In fact, you should disconnect the battery until you do. Your car is at extreme risk to catch fire right now.

After replacing the Defective ignition switch and most likely the connector. Dont forget to replace the connector. SLAVE IT OUT> Or the FORD gremlins will return at a later DATE!!!!! You can count on that. Trust me on this one!!!!

checked the switch it was splitting and when i held it together all the gauges and turn signals came on gonna get a switch for it tomorrow thanks for the help
