Ever work on something and Poo hits the fan?

So I needed pretty much a new front end under my 96 bird, got it all from rock auto, everything was good with the exception of the end links. I put the nut on the top stud (the one that goes through the spindle) and was running it down with a ratchet wrench and just put a tiny bit of torque on it, keep in mind this is a 6 inch long wrench, and I pulled the threads out of the stud. I decided I would run the other nut down behind the first one and try to back them off together, well the stud has a hollow portion for an allen wrench to go in and to keep it from spinning while tightening it. This twisted off.... So plan B, I took a chisel and cut the nut off which was some super soft metal and took a good hour with a hammer to get all apart. So i got it back off and I didn't want to spend the 50 dollars local to replace this part. Myself, the endlink, a grinder and a die set got real friendly. Its all back together with plenty of stud left and torqued down right but I'm left with a WTH feeling after all this. The upper, lower control arms went in no problem, and the strut rod bushings went together no problem. Even the other side's end link went together no issue. Not sure what I did to offend the drivers side though.

Some days are like that. Especially when your working on a 20+ year old car. I remember my friend driving my "59" Willy's over to my house when I bought it and a few days later I started to look it over and the gas pedal had a coat hanger holding it together. On my "86" Cougar when I took the rack and pinion off, it fell apart in my hands. At least when you've fixed it, you know it's done right and it's one less thing to worry about.

Mevotec or whatever, was the only one they had :(

I'll probably end up swapping in out, like I said the other side went together fine. I don't know if it was a defect with that part or?
One other time I had something weird like this happen a freaking rocker bolt snapped in two at idle. Called AFR and they sent me a entire new set, and those have been through hell which makes me think if it was something set up wrong more than the one would of broke.

There's always something. Tear down is always the worst though. Say you're stripping the front end down like you did, everything every bolt comes loose no problem.... except one of the lower control arm bolts is siezed in the sleeve. Just that one bolt and that is the only thing holding you up. If is a Sunday driver car its no problem, a daily driver it ticks you off to no end.

Parts nowadays, they just aren't the greatest quality anymore they'll do anything to shave a couple cents off of the production of the part to save a couple cents and jack the price up

Here is the rocker stud bolt I broke, broke at idle. Started backfiring through the throttle body. Scared the bejesus out of me.
