I think I have a senor problen

I have a 5.0 in a 88 Crown Vic.  The car run good after it warm. However when I first start it up, I must keep giving it gas for about 4 minutes. Unless I pull off right after starting. Need a little help.

If you want, I'll even do a youtube showing how to do codes on my 88 wagon. It takes 5 minutes.

They say you can learn something new everyday. I did not know we had a code reader. Could tell me where its located at. An what kind of code reader to get

Al Jump the ALDL connector and read the SES light BLINKS. Those are the service codes. Al all you need is a PAPER CLIP OR A JUMPER.

Post a little more info. Does the engine idle increase when COLD YES/NO? Or does it bog down or run rich when cold. Check the exhaust for black smoke. Just a couple of fast tips!!

I got a pm fromMr. Green. I'll post a video for him tomorrow. Mainly because the test port is in a different location on the panther chassi. Maybe do a quick write up and do one for the bird too. We get way to many questions about codes.

Here is a writeup on how to run them. The test port is located on the drivers side fram rail, near the headlight harness if I remember correctly.

Breif key on engine running test.

I show the volt meter, and read out the codes. 94 and 44 repeated. This is all smog related, traced down to a bad vac line.

Working on uploading the koeo test where I show better how the volt meter is hooked up. I accidently had it backwards, but it still functions fine. You can also use a test light or any 12v light bulb, or if your check engine light works, sit in the car to run the test. Just connect the paper clip as shown.

I can't get the crown vic video to load for some reason,but the test is ran the exact same way.

Link above shows codes and what they mean, as well as a write up of how to run them.

I got a double 11 meaning system pass from the k(ey)o(n)e(ngine)o(ff), and then a continuous memory (stored code) of 12, meaning the rpm's were too high to run a self test. First time I ran the codes, I accidently had my foot on the gas pedal so the computer couldn't lower the rpm's when the test was ran. This was user error.
