Headliner and console question January 31, 2013, 06:47:55 PM Are the headliners interchangeable between the 87-88 T-Bird and the Cougar. And does anyone know of a console that can be used in a 88 T-Bird.I know I would have to remove the one that hold the window and seat switches.I like the full lenth consoles.Trying to create my own look. Headliner and console question Reply #1 – January 31, 2013, 08:31:01 PM As far as the headliner, I have no idea. My console came from an '86 Thunderbird. It's full length from the dash to the back seat. I like that. The shorter consoles look incomplete to me. My car is an '88. Quote Selected
Headliner and console question Reply #2 – January 31, 2013, 09:43:16 PM No, the headliner won't interchange, but Vinnie is spot-on about the console. Quote Selected
Headliner and console question Reply #3 – February 01, 2013, 09:38:25 AM You can use any year cat or bird "fox" style console. 87+88 are the shorter ones. You will need the radio surround and brackets from one to. if you find one in the yard. Quote Selected

It's not that hard to pull the whole thing, I did it on my 83 a long time ago. Quote Selected
Headliner and console question Reply #6 – February 01, 2013, 02:09:43 PM No, he's thinking semi-correct...the T-Bird headliners are shorter than a Cougar. In theory a Cougar headliner could be cut down for a 'Bird. But for 1987-88, with molded headliners, that still might not work...I don't know. Never tried it myself, always recovered what was in there instead of trying to make something else work. Quote Selected
Headliner and console question Reply #7 – February 01, 2013, 07:26:02 PM if I remember correctly...the bird headliner I pulled out of the 87 parts bird had 2 weird seams near the rear window, and 2 push in clips to hold it in... my cougar has neither of those, but as Eric said..in theory it might work....
