BBK Long tube headers

Just wondering if anyone has installed them in there bird. I have a set and was wondering if I should mount them on the motor while I have it out or bolt them on after I drop the motor in the car. Oh ya my car also has a PA racing k member.

Id do it after u put the motor in. should be easier to put them in from the bottom

Ok I can say after doing them on my 87, get a mini starter, do the passenger side first with the engine mount undone and engine jacked up, also put the starter and header in TOGETHER! The drivers side doesn't seem that bad. If the header is touching the starter it will be cooked in not time flat and you will not be able to start when engine gets hot unless you got a real good starter. That is my experience, also there are different headers, I got the one to work with auto transmission fox body mustangs. If you get the wrong set you will have a nightmare on your hands because you can't figure out why it is so close but just won't work.

So it would be a PITA to try and put them on the motor and install the motor,trans, and headers all at once

I have never been able to stab the motor and trans all at once, however I have always installed the headers on the motor prior to installing the motor when I had 1-5/8" LT's.  I also have the bell housing bolted on as well.  Past experience has been that the 1-3/4" primaries were a bitch either way and the 1-5/8" primaries were not too bad either way but I preferred bolted to the motor, and the 1-1/2" primaries you could just throw under the hood and they would bolt themselves in.  Kidding on the last one but they were the easiest ones I ever put in.  If you are running a Lakewood bell housing then may the force be with you and don't call me for any help.

I've heard before that they fit. Is it true that they fit pretty well on our cars then?
If so, I'm ordering these bad boys!

here is my '88 XR7 with them.  you will have to grind the ear off the motor mounts a bit and dent in the one tube a bit to clear the mounts.  but they fit
