20year old happy meal toys

back at the turn of 1990 and for a few years, Disney was on it to remake all the movies plus new ones and there were a lot of neat happy meal toys at the golden arch and burgur king ect.

with new babies, i was constantly "needing" to get them thier happy meal but it occured to me that these may be collectable some day.

i have a big tote full of opened and still in the package disney and other types of toys offered by burger king, mickey d's, ect.

does anyone know if there is a market for these things being now 20years old?

Have you checked ebay? There might be some stuff on there to base an idea from.

naw, i dont use ebay as a ref, real people and opinions are more accurate.
will give it a try though, i just wanted to know if its even worth keeping them around or not or just toss them in the trash.

Was going through the garage attic and i get easily distracted from my dragon hord... started going through stuff.

If they're not worth anything, find a collector or museum willing to take 'em..?
Or toss 'em in the toys for tots bin..

Yeah I'd guess if they weren't a limited edition type thing, there were probably millions made of each toy.

Jay they are most likely not collectible to most. It is like me years ago. I gathered a bunch of camel hump chevy fuelie heads thinking i would make a fortune. But as time went on they faded out to many other better heads. And then the LS motors appeared. So i got stuck with these boat anchors. So i gave them to some young guys at the car shows.  At this holiday season you might just want to give those things away to neighborhood kids as good will. Kids love that stuff. It just might be something that will be a good thing to DO!! And knowing you from this site and how you help us i bet it would make you very HAPPY AS WELL. just a thought!!! Happy Holidays!!!

There is a collectors following for them, there is even a place that collects and sells them to other collectors. Don't know how big of a group it is, but I have seen some die hard collectors before.

yeah, at best it looks like this is just like anything else ....

when its new,,, and people want it, they will pay a little more to gather thier collection if they cant get it at the fast food joint.
seems like "new'er" toys are more valuable right now then they will be in a couple years.

give it  a year or so then these type toys go down to about 50cents to a buck each at best.

not sure its even worth it to keep em, may give them away like suggested.

Do you have those gold plated Pokemon cards that Burger King gave out in the late 90's? Those were awesome, I still wish I had gotten one. Not sure about their value though...

i gave those away to a neighbor kid , tossed them in with my 70's/80's/90's baseball , football, basketball cards then decided to let the kid have them.

If i had it to do over again, i would have just purchased every year of Rookies only.

i stopped collecting baseball cards right round the time "ted williams best hitters" sub set came out.  it was a frustrating change in card collecting times to keep up with all that plus then Stadium Club was all the rage.... so i got the first couple years of that then decided,, oh well, i have a few years of rookie sets, somethings gotta end up being worth something some day.

Although there were millions given out to kids, most of them ended up broken, fading to oblivion collecting moss and methane in a landfill.  That makes the some of the survivors sort of rare, and potentially interesting to some toy collector somewhere trying to finish a collection or relive youth.  Potential interest means potential value, but a quick glance at ebay shows most are selling for $0.99 or so, even for a large set... :)  Like most things, value is higher in unopened, original packaging.
