Nice job, OP and 347.  I'm going to be tackling this same issue on mine soon.

347 what did you use to shape the corner again where the trim goes, you have any finished pics?

I made the metal as close to the shape as I could then I used duraglass, then bondo after I laid trim on top and marked it took off and sanded by hand, on the flat spots I used a block hope this helps
