car audio help???

Hey guys I have a few problems with my current setup, first MAJOR problem engine noise coming from the amps, second I want to get the car to sound a little better. I have a pioneer deck running pioneer 3.5's, 6.5's and 6x9's, I also have 1 JL audio 10" with a 500w alpine amp, I keep hearing about component speakers, and crossovers, I don't know  it that department so I'm willing to learn, so let me have it.I am looking to buy this amp(Alpine MRP-F300) but should I get a 6 channel amp or just drop two of the front speakers.

When you say engine noise, I assume you mean the whine that increases in frequency parallel to the engine RPM.  To get rid of the engine noise, or at least minimize it, you need to make sure that your source line voltage is filtered, grounds are clean and all lines both into and out of the amp(s) are shielded.  You may also reduce some noise by using shielded spark and coil cables. Of all of these, the most important are the filtering input voltages for both head unit and the amps, followed by clean grounds. Ensuring you have clean chassis grounds is something you can easily tackle without much in the way of cost.

Yes the rev makes it worse,Where do I need the noise filters, on the power to the head unit and the remote wire or the 2 gauge power wire to the amp.

If you have the fender mounted antenna connected to the head unit then do not connect the ground wire from the head unit to a chassis ground.  Leave it unhooked and the antenna will ground the head unit.  Connecting both will give you a ground loop which can contribute to the alternator whine.

Good RCA cables will also do the trick but we never connected the ground on the head unit unless it would not turn on.
