Buying a Procharger for the bird

I will be supercharging my bird because at the moment my original Mark Viii is faster than it :punchballs:
Anyways, I have deleted the AC my power steering has take that place instead, you can see that here:

But looking at the pictures for the Procharger P1SC kit they've mounted it with the AC bracket which ofcourse I don't have anymore.

My wonders are, do I have to relocate the power steering to the original position and mount the AC bracket there for the supercharger or do Procharger sell another mount for those who doesn't have AC?

Also what other mods do you guys think I need?
What I have right now is a 255lph pump in the gas tank, unsure if it's enough because I'm running E85.
Also I have the original injectors from my dads Terminator which are 39lb.
The transmission will not hold up so I'm looking into a C4 tranny.

And do you think the engine will hold up for the 14lbs 12 rib system instead of the 8 rib system which gives you 9lbs minimum? ;)
I will not be upgrading my intake or cylinder heads before a real Dart block is in place.

What's your thoughts? :)

Procharger offers a bracket that eliminates the A/C and P/S.  It's called a Renegade bracket.  They have an P/S relocation kit that puts it on the passenger side.

If you try to run the A/C bracket without A/C, you'll have a problem.  The compressor is an integral part of the set up.  Without it there is no structural integrity.

The fuel pump and injectors are way to small for supercharged E85 set up!  If E85 is in your future, better save some cash for a dedicated fuel system.  These are the things you'll need for a E85 system:  Custom/modified tank, fuel pumps (as in plural), upgraded wiring (so the extra amps the pumps draw doesn't start a fire), big fuel lines, aftermarket rails, regulator, injectors.  Somewhere on the range of $1,600-$2,000.

I've looked into E85:  For what a fuel system costs, you can get an aftermarket block.

If it's a race car, the C4 is great.  Street car, not so much.  Options for Ford autos in a blown street car include: Built AOD, AODE, 4R70w.  Manual trans for the street: TK500, TK600 or T56 and a dual disk clutch to hold the power.

It is my understanding Procharger no longer rates their current Self Contained superchargers in application specific PSI (P1SC/D1SC).  The old oil fed P600b's were rated at 9lb, 11lb, 14lb.  These PSI ratings were based on a completely stock Fox 5.0.  A P600b is a serviceable unit, should you locate one.

Any kit you purchase will need supporting mods of at least a high pressure fuel pump (not the standard 255 pump), properly sized injectors, matched to a blow through MAF and a professional tune.

Will the engine live? Maybe.  Too many factors to offer an educated guess there!

Develop a plan.  Do your research.  There are other sites which have a great deal of information on supercharged set ups.  Try corral.net.

If you are targeting enough power which may be close to splitting a stock block; than it would be wise to expect to upgrade the rear end, brakes, trans, exhaust and eventually the block.

If you expect a mild build, some of those components may be serviceable.

The learning curve is bit steep, errors can be quite unforgiving.  Expect it to take time to sort out the combination (and that the combination may morph...)

In my experience, the cost of the used supercharger kit was fraction of what it took to make the car right.

Good luck with your project!

Hey, cheers for the great answer!
First off, where do I find the Renegade bracket? Been searching Prochargers site but found nothing about it.
I'm already running E85 in the car as it is. But I could imagine the fuel pump is too small for an E85 supercharged setup. Your recommendation is double 255 pumps?

I've already decided on a C4 transmission. The car will be a street car but it's only gonna be an "in city" car. For highway driving I'll just trailer it. I'm hardly driving it as it is right now.

I've been searching alot of information about this and I was hoping for a slap on running like 9psi with only bigger injectors, MAF and a real tune. But I'm guessing not :)

I really do need to think this over and get the parts I really need for this to work. I'm not aiming high HP because the AOD transmission will not hold up for it. A C4 transmission isn't really in my budget as it is right now so what I would like would be maybe 300-350RWHP to begin with. And when I have money I'll build a real 351W stroked to 408 with dart block etc.

That could be intestesting Bigbada1. The problem is that I live in Sweden ;) Buying used stuff is abit more complicated.

Do anyone have a picture of a renegade setup? I havn't found a single decent picture showing the bracket on the engine, PS pump location etc.

Here are a couple links to shots of the renegade kit (uninstalled and installed) and one with the P/S relocation kit and the renegade set up installed (though they are carb setups).

You'll likely have to check with Procharger on what they may have available to meet your goal.

The 255 LPH pump and the 39 lb injectors may be enough for a low boost/low HP set up, if it was gasoline.  T

Thanks for the links! :)
I found on Prochargers website that they sell alternator relocator kit, guessing that's something?
Also found that the D1SC headunit isn't much extra. This isn't going to end very well if I keep trying to buy better things with an engine that's gonna blow by the thought of a D1 unit on it.

Better I ask you guys than my father.
Had a talk about this with him and it ended with him thinking seriously thinking I should buy a 5.4L from a GT500 to put in my car...
It gets way too out of hand when I'm trying to talk cars with him. Like when I wanted a winterbeater (when I was thinking of buying my Lincoln Mark Viii) and he thought I should buy a 03-04 Mach 1...

How many years did you plan to have the car off the road?  Great concept on swapping in the 5.4, but it's a huge undertaking!  A long, long way from the idea of bolting on a small S/C and hitting the road.

I've already had the car off the road for 4 years during the restoration so I don't want it off the road at all the following years :)
But I'm not gonna do such a thing as putting a 5.4 in it. For the same price I could buy a 540 Merlin and attach a Chevy to it, or build a sick 427W stroker :D
