HO Sport vs Fox'Stang GT

Last evening after the car cruise my brother-in-law came over to visit.  He drives a '89 Mustang GT (T5) with the usual bolt-ons...exhaust, pullies, 3.55's, CAI.  Since the Ranger and 'bird were still out from the cruise, we decided to have a little street race.  I live on a very rural, flat, straight and nicely paved section of road that is about a mile long and is about as ideal as you can get for some fooling around.

Knowing that the built 351W Ranger would be no contest running against two fairly stock 5.0L based cars, I left it parked.  The 'bird would match up nicely since the only thing I have as an advantage is the Explorer intake and 70mm TB but the extra weight would closely even that out.  A friend was over to visit also and he wanted to ride along with me so I had another 220# pound of ballast to pull along.  So after marking off 1/4 mile, we lined up at one end of the road and I let him call the start.

Naturally since he called it, he got the jump on me and pulled about one car ahead.  In second gear I started gaining, third gear had me catch him and in fourth I walked away to the finish line.  Have to say that I'm very pleased with how well the 'bird ran and pulled by the 'stang even after he got the jump and I had a passenger.

Now if the rains holds off this week I'll be heading to the racetrack to see what times it will turn.  Went last week but got rained out.

Sweet !!!! The Sport has shown her tail lights to a few Stangs around here. I'm proud you and the Bird made a good showing and represented well.

Right on. Figured the Stang would've had you, since you had an extra couple hundred pounds and the mods are similar. Guess the Explorer intake more than made the difference :)

Nice.  I was playing with a 650i on the freeway yesterday and we were doing a buck 18 before he went west and I continued north.  I haven't had that much fun in quite a while.  I haven't bothered to get rid of the snow tires yet as my 5 lugs and 17's are closely pending. I'll have to do this again once I've got tires I don't have to be scared shiznitless over.
