Building an auto cross car Reply #3 – May 16, 2012, 10:27:56 PM the seats, carpet, and sound deadener is pretty much most of the weight. The next heavy stuff is bumpers and their mounts. The rest of it is a bunch of random places where you can get 1/2 a pound to a pound. I have an aluminum driveshaft too. I just tried to make everything that didn't need to be really strong as light as possible. There was another person on this site that had a list of how much everything weighed, but I don't remember who it was. Quote Selected
Building an auto cross car Reply #4 – May 17, 2012, 11:32:58 AM Cool thanks. I have already striped all the sound deadener from under the carpet, rear seats and the trunk. Did you use a drive shaft from another car or did you buy one for your car? I have a aluminum drive shaft out of a mark 8. Any idea if it will fit? Quote Selected
Building an auto cross car Reply #5 – May 17, 2012, 09:21:38 PM I got the only aluminum driveshaft out of a crown vic in the junkyard I went to. Think I found 9 other steel driveshafts. I ended up cutting it down to fit. Did it myself and havent noticed any vibrations or anything from it either. Quote Selected
