console lid/interior refurb April 24, 2012, 10:40:20 PM easy way to take a ripped up, cracked and otherwise disgusting console lid and give it new life.. any idiot can do it, even if you lack any kind of upholstering skills.. i'm not an upholstery pro, but i do wrap things in tweed quite oftenthis will probably be a lot easier using vinyl, for a stock appearing refurb, as it is a little more forgiving with a little steam.. if your padding is trashed, you can se the remainder of it off and replace it, as wellbasically, all you need is..- the material you wish to use- headliner glue/spray adhesive- chalk or marker - razor knife/blade- philips screw driverbare with me, i forgot to take 'process pics,' but you should be able to figure it out very easilybefore:after: Quote Selected
console lid/interior refurb Reply #1 – April 24, 2012, 11:00:10 PM Tweed sure does look a lot better than it sounds. That looks real nice... or at least if it goes with anything else in the car. Quote Selected

console lid/interior refurb Reply #6 – April 24, 2012, 11:35:01 PM do you agree that it's insanely simple and even the dumbest of people can do it with excellent results? i don't get why people go crazy over finding console lids that are undamaged, when they could easily refurbish their own Quote Selected

console lid/interior refurb Reply #10 – April 26, 2012, 12:07:49 AM I was actually thinking of doing the same thing to my spare lid to see how it turned out. I wasn't thinking tweed, but basically the same idea. I just don't like the way the factory vinyl feels under my usually sweaty arm lol. Quote Selected

console lid/interior refurb Reply #14 – April 27, 2012, 08:29:52 AM Sarjxxx, you definitely want a cloth cover. That way, when you're really sweaty, it'll soak up in the console lid cover so it can smell like a gym locker later on. Quote Selected
