Very cool old 83 Turbo Coupe Prototype pic Reply #3 – April 22, 2012, 06:52:15 AM Those grilles and spoilers pop up for sale every once in a while. The wheels look like the metric wheels that were on the Birds, Cougars, Stangs and Capris. Quote Selected
Very cool old 83 Turbo Coupe Prototype pic Reply #4 – April 22, 2012, 06:55:24 AM The grille and spoiler were FMS add-on parts that you could buy rom Ford dealerships back then and are actually fairly valuable today. The wheels are TRX, a factory option back then that required a special metric Michelin tire that has been out of production for decades, and are worth s prices today. One of our members has cut up a set and made hubcaps out of them, which look really good on his 17" chrome rims... Quote Selected

YUCKIE!!!Really? That's the ugliest car you've ever seen? You really missed the Aztek, Rendezvous, X90, Juke, Cube, Murano, Element, Ridgeline, Matador, Gremlin, Pacer, 4th Gen (Catfish face) Camaro, and the rest (If I were to go through the ages and list all the automotive abortions this would be a very lenghtly list indeed)? That early 80's T-Bird with a period correct factory designed and sold modification is really the ugliest car you've ever seen? Would that I were so lucky to have never been exposed to any of these others... But on the topic of fox Bird prototypes, how about this one? Quote Selected
Very cool old 83 Turbo Coupe Prototype pic Reply #7 – April 22, 2012, 09:15:31 AM metric tires are still avalible, for over $400 dollars a tire. i wish they would come down, or make a repop in a 15 or 16. the ones on the mustang are different then the ones on the tbird. different design. as far as the car, i think its straight out of the 80s awesome. Very cool old 83 Turbo Coupe Prototype pic Reply #8 – April 22, 2012, 10:04:45 AM I like them both! There's a member on here that has that grill on thier Bird. A very good friend of mine has the other grill FMS offered back then. It doesn't stick out like this one. He's not decided to use it yet. Quote Selected
Very cool old 83 Turbo Coupe Prototype pic Reply #9 – April 22, 2012, 10:20:50 AM I like them both too , the one Carm posted reminds me of the Mark VII pace car they used as the basis forth the Roush GTC Lincolns Quote Selected
Very cool old 83 Turbo Coupe Prototype pic Reply #10 – April 22, 2012, 10:44:34 AM Years ago, I stumbled upon a four-eye Thunderbird in a junkyard that was fitted with the FMS parts, including the side skirts and three-pedestal spoiler. I bought the pieces and held onto them for a while. Another forum member now owns them. That spoiler is a hell of a lot heavier than it looks. Quote Selected

Very cool old 83 Turbo Coupe Prototype pic Reply #13 – April 22, 2012, 11:02:22 AM Years ago I had a similar find in another junkyard and left the stuff there because I didn't have a four-eye. I seem to remember offering to buy the parts and sell them to someone on this forum but there was no interest so I didn't get the stuff. The car was a base '86 V6 with column shifter and full console but no other options. I bought the console and tray but left the rest there... Quote Selected

This car was a PPG pace car for an indycar racing series back then. They've done several one-offs, including a Fiero and a Mark VII (with T--tops!). Just google "PPG Pace Car" and you'll see some of their weird 80's pace cars. Info on the Mark can be found here: http://web.atmc.net/~snonnenman/PPGCar.htm Quote Selected
