cam install questions Reply #1 – March 11, 2012, 10:30:53 PM When I installed a trickflow cam in a 302 several years ago the short dowel pin wasn't completely flush with the timing gear, with the long pin it was flush and wasn't too short. So sorry I don't know if it was right or wrong but I used the long one in two different motors for a couple of years and never had a problem with it. Check with your cam manufacture to double check..
