Tornado season is in full swing.

I know a lot of members are in Tornado Alley, and that tornadoes CAN occur anytime, anywhere....last night some people I know lost their home due to a twister. They weren't there, but the house is pretty well a loss. All of their outbuildings are scattered into the fencerows as well..

When bad weather is headed your way, be vigilant. We had NO sirens, NO warnings last night. Nothing. Thankfully nobody here was hurt, unfortunately in Branson, Missouri, there was a fatality, and some injuries in Kansas from the same system. :(

And that house that was destroyed....is less than 3.5 miles from where I sit right now typing this at home.

Yeah, it stormed pretty good up here last night too. They announced over the PA that people need to seek shelter.

That's crazy having twisters this time of year already.  Sounds like much of the midwest got pounded by storms last night. In ND here we got over a foot of snow and 40+ mph winds.  That's to close for comfort for a twister, glad your ok

Nobody in this area hurt, unfortunately in Southern Missouri, Kansas, and Illinois, there's deaths. Never a good time for casualties, but sadly, weather is merciless.

Like I said, there was no warnings here of any kind..I guess the NWS was probably more concerned with the chaos happening in Branson, Kimberling City, and Buffalo Missouri to care about a few barns and one farmhouse that got blown down...

Wasn't even a year ago that 80+ MPH straight line winds took down a lot of trees around here, two big oaks in my yard also fell...thankfully they fell away from the house, or I may not be here telling the tale now.

I was stuck outside in my garage when the storm blew over.  Luckily nothing serious happened.

I had a tornado go within about 1000' of my house a few years ago.  Demolished my barn and did a ton of damage in my town.  You always hear people say that it sounds like a train...and I gotta say a tornado really does sound like a freight train rolling down the tracks.  Very eerie sound.  Thankfully we have a basp00get we can retreat to if need be.

Unfortunately...a lot of folks tonight are a lot worse off than Ed and Linda, who live(d) in the house in my pics above.

Looks like killer weather season has arrived early this year :(

Hope everyone here that lives in the affected areas are safe, sound and accounted for, injury and damage free.:bowdown::bowdown::bowdown:

I have checked on the people I know out that way and everyone has come out ok,  the total Tornado count as of 10pm central time was 92...  talk about an insane number

So far, 4 confirmed twisters, 99 reported. Once the others are confirmerd, that number will be much much higher. They're saying 32 fatalities, I'd guess that's unfortunately not all there will be.

We ain't even into prime twister season yet.

Never saw a tornado and never want to. There was a small one that touched down about 10 miles north of where I was living about 20 years ago and it was the only confirmed tornado to ever touch down in the province of Nova Scotia. Hurricanes and blizzards are bad enough, thankyouverymuch. Although the weather office does admit that several tornadoes may have touched down in 2003 during hurricane Juan (and the forest damage at my cottage seems to support this, the trees were down in every direction, not all in the same direction like one would expect from a hurricane).

I'm no expert on tornadoes, but wouldn't this be the worst time of year for them, as winter and summer are battling it out? Warm southern air is moving north and mixing with cold northern air, which I would think would be a perfect recipe for storms.
