2012/13 winter race car

Picked this up last saturday. Its an 86 cougar xr7 with a 2.3T and auto trans. Needed a turbo and needed put back together. Runs decent at this point, but it needs a good going through in other places. Interior is kinda lousy(red of course) but I can rob most of the interior out of the bird we got the same day which is faded black. I will probably give it a cheap/quickie paint job. Its got some rust spots that will need addressed, but its not too bad overall, except for the compression fittings I found on brake lines and a leaking compression fitting for the trans cooler lines.

Hey....red interiors are cool : )

That should be a nice project. Ill try to find an issue but a guy in Hot Rod magazine had the same engine just in a stang, and managed to pull bumper sing (Literaly) wheel stands past the 60 foot mark. And he drives it to work everyday. He said his secret was basicly a big turbo and one hell of a bottom end. Sweeet engines. Best of luck!

If the interior was any color but red, I would only have to change the seats, but red just does not belong in a car.  As for the trans, I guess I will have to drive it a while to decide.  I'd have to find another t5 somewhere if I was going to change it.  Being a C3 trans, these arent good for much of anything

At this point, I have almost the entire interior out. Getting rid of the red interior for the raven/black-gray out of the tbird we picked up with this car. That tbird is rusty though. I will have to find some paint to match the gray of the other interior since a couple plastic peices will not interchange since mercury forgot to finish the roof, lol. One thing I have noticed working on this, and in some for sale adds, since starting on this car is that stuff says ford on the interior sill plates and such instead of mercury. It does suck having to pull the dash to change the carpet so it will get a new heater core while I'm at it.

When the c3 gives up the ghost, it will most likely be replaced by a t5

I actually bought both of bhazards cars.  The interior out of the red one in the banner is going in this since its pretty rusty but the interior isnt bad.

The dash is just laying in there now and no wiring is hooked up anymore, and the carpet is now out(battery on camera died) and that carpet is just rediculously heavy.  I did find the build sheet under the rear seat taped to the quarter panel.  I also realized I probably should have torn the other car apart first to get the carpet out, lol.  Oh well, I had to practice on one right?  I found a duplicolor vinyl and fabric paint that matches almost exactly to the raven interior and it turns out to be flat black.  The charcoal gray wasnt even close.  I also got all the headliner fabric off the cardboard backer(why arent sunroof cars cardboard too?) and the red fabric off the rear deck fiberglass stuff.  I already ordered an amp for the stereo, now I just have to find some good speakers to handle 75w rms x4 for the highs(jl audio 300/4 to match the 1000/1 I already have for subs in my SC that will be getting sold-16mpg is irritating me)
Anybody know how good the summit racing paints are?  They seem pretty cheap so I don't know if they will last.  I don't want a fortune in painting this thing.

I should be the one calling you a douche after finding all your half assed repairs and mods!  Why'd you have to cut the black carpet down the middle so you could take the sound deadener off.  AND I sure as heck hope you weren't the one who put compression fittings in the brake lines!
