Please help.

I bought a 1990 Ford Ranger about two months ago. I bought it from Charles Barker. It has been a nightmare since the very beginning. Well the problem I have now is I still dont have a title and its been seven weeks since I bought it and I paid cash. My question is how long does the dealership have to provide a title. Im going to the dealership tomorrow to either get a full refund and they can have the truck back or they can refund their five hundred dollar processing fee and I'll keep the truck. Im very unhappy and I need info to make my argument. Thanks guys.

i believe here in jersey, they have 14 days to supply the title when a vehicle is paid off or paid in full.. i've never, EVER left a car lot/dealer without my title, unless it was an actual dealership.. for VA laws and such, i'd talk to someone at the DMV

In NY, the tiles take about 3 months to come in the mail. the old title transfers the vehicle, and the Dmv gets the old one when you register it.... new cars, the dealer registers, and you get the title in about 3 months... if a dealer does the registering here on a used vehicle, then we wait for it in the mail, but the vehicle has the reg sticker on the window when we pick it up, like buying it new.
Seems every state has their own rules, but I would think that you should've got the title when you took the truck.

My truck is registered, tagged, and insured. Im driving it. They told me it would be 7 - 10 days for the title. Everytime I call they tell me the lady that does the titles is out. It really shouldnt be this much of a pain, its freaking paid for.

Unless it's changed in the last few years, I believe it's 60 days in VA for the dealer to supply a title, after that they are required to refund your money... If it had a unsatisfied loan in it's history, some lending agency may be holding up the title... I had one that took about six weeks for the dealer(my buddy), to get the title but it finally came through...

If you get your money back, I'll sell you a red '88 TC that needs a little TLC... Has a fresh state inspection(Nov), but need a transmission(T5) that I'll supply...
