Finally!!

I finally brought my new DD home tonight after buying it on monday! Its a 90 Ranger 2WD, 2.3, 5spd, A/C, and P/S. Its in great shape inside and out. I'll take some pictures tomorrow, its too late and dark now. I was ready to get my money back today. I called them and told that I was coming to pick up the truck or my money, to have one of them ready by the time I got there. The truck was ready. Thank god I really wanted it.

Its a standard cab short bed. Im a ranger junky to. I had a 87 that had a 2.0 but I put a built 2.3 in, I've posted pictures of it here before. I've also had a 01 Ranger edge 4.0 SOHC. I'll post pictures tomorrow of all three. The 01 was technically my wifes. The 90 is in much better shape than my 87, its probably in better shape than anything I've owned.

Sorry guys, no pictures yet. The batterys in my camera are dead. It is awesome though, I remember why I loved my 87 so much.

It has always seemed that Rangers and fox chassis cars go hand in hand. I have had 6 rangers and a mountaineer.
Currently still have 2 rangers; one 93 turbo'd DD, and one 89 project completely torn apart.

This is my third. I also had an Explorer. I can get a turbo, manifold, and intercooler for my ranger for $150, but Im trying to leave this one alone.

i believe GM put together a better platform to build on.. not knocking your truck, because it's yours and you like it.. in the end, that's all that matters. i just prefer small chevys and fullsize fords.. my truck bias is whacky, i know.. but at least there aren't any dodges in the mix.. LOL

True, Id own a import before a dodge, but there is a reason the ranger has been the best saleing mid-size truck since the beginning of its production in 83. Im not knocking the S-10, the ranger and s-10 have there place. Im not the kind of guy that will argue why one car is better than the other. I would never own any other mid size other than the ranger. I think the 2.2, and 2.8 are junk and the 4.3 is a gas hog and under powered. The ranger has its problems to, the 2.8,2.9, and 4.0s crack heads and some people would say they're junk. The 4.0 SOHC is a gas hog too but it has the guts to back it up. Im a diehard ranger fan because I think they're alot more rugged, better looking and the 2.3 is my favorite engine of all time. I do think that the worst mistake chevy made was discontinuing the S-10.

I dont understand why you like the fullsize ford but not the ranger. The ranger is almost the same truck, just scaled down. But like you said I dont have to understand, its your opinion. At least its not a dodge.

i agree on the 2.2 and 2.8 from personal experience with both.. the 4.3 in my sonoma is stout though, but it's chipped.. in stock form, they're exactly what you said, underpowered gas hogs.. GM gave them a super trashy tune to meet emissions.. my buddy's 91 had a 2.5 in it with very very little work done to it and it would murder 2.3 rangers all day.. my bad 2.2 and 2.8 experiences..

the 2.2 that was replaced by my 306 in my buddy's truck

the 2.8 cylinder #4 out of my 88 S10

i guess i just don't like the scaled down version.. i love my 85 bronco and was in love with my 93 F150.. both lifted, sas'd and on 38's (bronco) and 39.5's (f150).. and i'd rather walk 100 miles than own a dodge for 5 minutes to drive 2 miles.. everything dodge did/does makes me cringe

I drove my freind's dads gmc with a 4.3, back in high school. It would murder any 4.0 I have ever driven. My problem with chevy's are te cost, and how much smaller they are then most other cars. I can own 2 or 3 fords for every chevy, in similar condition/class. And in my experiance, they do not last as long either.

I hated my neon, worst car in the world. My freinds 91 dakota with a 318 was fine, other then on gas.

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.
