Converter has arrived!

Im ready to get this party started! This is a 9.5" Dirty Dog( i guess he doesnt paint them all seafoam green). We discussed my combo, but we never put a "stall number" on paper, talked about 3k. My aod is being built by a guy here in Houston that has a great rep. He's an engineer by day, gearhead at night. Had the parts to do a nice build, so he figured he'd build it and make some cash to fund another project of his.

Also bought a 300m input shaft. Its lockup, so its still the tiny inner shaft, but it was cheap, and cant hurt.

You mean like the purple/pink Precision Industries converter I have? I've got one of their 9.5" billet 2800 non-lock-up converters in my car and I love it.

Drove the car in and dropped it off at my mechanics Monday, and just dropped off the converter, input shaft, trans, speedo gear, and rear main just now. I put the engine in by myself, and that was enough to let me sit this one out. I have a baby due in October, and this thing needs to be road ready by then, or it'll rot.

Picked up the speedo gear at Tommie Vaughn Ford during lunch just now. I actually worked there one summer in college, but that was a decade plus ago, so no one remembered me, not that I said anything. Tommie vaughn is a HUGE FMS dealer, and they carry almost anything you could/would want. Its nice having a place like that in town.

/cool story bro

Better update hopefully late this week.

It might get done today. Im so excited. I got a trans temp gauge i want to put in the bottom section of the center console. I bought a couple small sheets of plexi at Lowes. Thinking fit the plexi to the console opening, paint the back side black, mount trans temp, oil pressure, and water temp there. Thinking extending the cig light/cell charger to inside the console storage.

The guy who did my trans tig'd in two 1/8" npt plugs in teh pan, one for the temp probe, one for a drain.

Barely got a chance to drive it around the block a few times before it was time to go home. Its my first stalled auto, its a little bizarre. Ive always had t5's and a 3550.  Looking forward to driving it some more in the morning. The guy who built it put the temp probe in the right rear of the pan, kind of close to the x pipe, so I'll probably wrap the pipe to keep from heating up the probe indirectly.

If you havent read about it before, this is in a 87 bird. Almost everything was bought used, why, IDK, im cheap.

Mass air swap, a9l, 65mm exploder tb, exploder intake, iron gt40's, comp xe266hr, 9.5"converter, Neighbor's Aod, 3.55, Full sn95 brakes front and rear.

High stall converters tend to feel a little weird untill you get the engine close to the converters stall speed.

That's a real nice combo you have there and should put up some very solid numbers. Great selection of parts and a clean install.
