86 Cougar 5.0 For Sale May 09, 2011, 09:54:29 PM St Louis, MO areaNeed a parts car or a project car? I'm selling my 86 Cougar 5.0. It needs a little work, but it is still in decent running shape. A/C works, transmission was recently rebuilt (12/10), recently purchased tires (12/10) and recently replace brakes (12/10). I'm selling it for $1500 AS IS, OBO. I will post a picture as soon as I get a chance. I started body work on it, but only got as far as bond-o and primer before running out of money and getting married. Valve cover gaskets need replaced along with the windshield.Engine is the original V8 5.0 302, and has approx 130,000 miles on it. If you have any questions or are interested, feel free to PM me or reply to this thread. I'm looking to unload my baby asap, and willing to travel a reasonable distance to do so. I love this car, but am simply not able to keep it up anymore. Quote Selected
86 Cougar 5.0 For Sale Reply #1 – May 11, 2011, 07:22:27 PM I'll have pictures for you guys hopefully tomorrow. I know everyone is dying to see this thing, as is clear by the comments or questions on it... :)Also wanted to mention I have a full digital instrument cluster (extra), 4 Cougar mud flaps, and 1 WORKING Electro-luminescent Cougar emblem. Don't know if that peaks any interest or not, but just so everyone is aware, those will be included with the car as well. Quote Selected

86 Cougar 5.0 For Sale Reply #4 – May 20, 2011, 09:12:50 AM For the sake of full disclosure, I just fixed the idling problem I was having on the Cougar. Had to replace the Idle Air Control Valve, and now it's running quite a bit better than it was. Still hoping to peak someone's interest! Quote Selected

86 Cougar 5.0 For Sale Reply #7 – May 21, 2011, 07:49:29 AM Off subject a bit but I just noticed your h/l buckets are black with chrome edge, do you know if they came that way or were they painted? Anyway good luck with the sale and hope you have better luck than I did, I listed my XR7 on ebay and it never got to 1500. Quote Selected
86 Cougar 5.0 For Sale Reply #8 – May 21, 2011, 05:46:33 PM I painted the h/l buckets and the inner grill of the main grille. My mechanic buddy helped me with it. everything is black except for the chrome edges. Only problem was, my mechanic buddy didn't bother to mention or bring up clear coating anything, and I'm still kinda a noob, so within a week it was all chipped up from bugs and gravel and such. he came back to me after seeing it and was like "you shoulda clear coated it!" thanks buddy... thanks a lot! but yeah, for that week, it looked sweet! didn't take a lot of work, just a pain to tape of the chrome just right.
