AOD transmission

Is the AOD transmission in my 87 5.0 the same as one out of a 91 SuperCoupe with a AOD. Will it bolt up? What all will I need to change to get it to work. Will I still use the same driveshart?

It'll bolt up.  The SC trans is actually a bit of an upgrade as far as durability is concerned....
It's the same length so you'll have no issues with the driveshaft.  The drive gear in the tailshaft may have a different number of teeth so you may need a new speedo gear.  The SC should have an 8 tooth gear and the '87 should have a 7 tooth gear provided they have the original tailshafts.  The tailshafts ARE interchangeable....  The later style is said to have fixed a lubrication issue.

FWIW -- when I bought my car in '98 it had a brand new AOD in it with less than 100 miles.  Had a case with an '89 part # and the later style tailshaft with the 8 tooth gear.

O what would it take to make it work. Just switch over the linkage stuff?

if you have a floor shifter, your all set to just swap it and change the speedo gear. If you have a column shifter, you have to flip the linkage lever over to make it connect up
