Help!! Want more Power!!

Hey Guys!! I'm new to this site, so here goes, i have an 1986 XR7 Cougar Turbo Coupe with 145000 kms. I was just wondering if you had any tips on how to get more kick out of the little turbo motor. The car is completely stock, with no mods. All info is greatly appreicated. Thanks. CapeBretonXR7. :canada:

theirs another site http://www.turbotbird.com and also http://www.merkurencyclopedia.com/

they have alot of good info. basicaly i'd go with freeing up the exhaust. do you have emmissions? if not, rip that cat out and get a high flow ler and a 3 inch exhaust from the down pipe back. and then free up the air intake. i got alot of power out of my 88 when i opened up the exhaust and did a cai. then i upped the boost to 17 or 18psi.

We don't have emissions in Nova Scotia, but we have high gas prices!!! :yuck: But I took a look at turbotbird.com and they had a small list of stage one upgrades and the exhaust was one. I was thinking 3" down pipe, and 3" into the ler, then duals from the ler back.

Another Nova Scotian! Welcome aboard - that makes three of us now.

So are you the guy that called me a few months back when I had an ad in the Bargain Hunter looking for a parts TC, wondering if I had found one and if so, could you buy the turbo? The guy that called me was from Cape Breton also...

No Thunder Chicken I'm not the guy who called. my cousin has a 6" K&N cone filter that he said he'd sell me. I was thinking of a home made cold air intake. Will this make any improvements. Also my water pump just started leaking, would this cause the car to surge and run like .
