New Posts?

Why does it seem that some times I come here there's 20+ new posts from the last day and some times there's 1 or 2 then it builds up to 4 tor 5 then wham back to 1 or 2.
  I like the whats new feature the most and I notice guys that want to get there question looked at bump them? Is their any way I can find more new post in a search function?

Here's what I use:

If there are any new posts this will show them. Use it from the forum home page, and it shows all new posts. Use it within a certain section (say, the Lounge), and it only shows new posts from the lounge. It will show all new posts since your last vist.

Ok, not sure what you're looking for then. That shows all new posts since your last visit, so if you only see two new posts that's all there were since your last visit...

oh that's cool I didn't know it could filter it by sub-forum also. That's kinda neat. Course we don't have enough members to post that actually make that useful but it's still cool :p

and as far as the original question, I just recently started using the what's new button and still usually just click on the individual forums. sometimes there are threads that have no replies so you may have missed its creation so that's a good way to keep up on that.
