Ya, I second that one. Too many freaks come out for things like this. I'm not saying all Star Wars fans are freaks, I like the movies myself. Just the people that go way out of the way to dress like the actors in the movie, those are the one I consider freaky.

Undoubtedly. I don't mind it though, as I'm a fan from back in tha day, and that's all part of the fun. Besides, have you ever been to a Star Trek movie? I got treated to a reenactment of a famous Klingon battle in the lobby before ST6 in 1991. That was entertaining. I think the difference is, SW fans dress up for the movies. ST fans dress up for life. ;)

I agree I work with people on both sides, Star Wars and Star Trek. The SW guys are close to normal but everthing the ST guys talk about some how have somethning to do with an episode they have seen.

It is quite entertaining listening to them talk about which are better like the light saber vs. the phaser.

Hey now!  Actually I think it's kind of fitting that the Star Wars and Star Trek franchises (or at least a major chapter in each) is ending at about the same time.  The last episode of Enterprise aired last Friday.  This is the first time in 18 years that a new Star Trek show has not been in production.  That's pretty big.  The franchise is 40 years old next year.

And everyone knows a phaser is way better than a light saber I mean come on!

At least the dialog and acting is better in the ST movies... ;)

I grew up with them both....

I like them both and have been to all the opening nights of the re-releases of Ep 4-6 and Ep 1 & 2, all the Matrix and LoTR movies.....yeah, I'm a dork... got a problem with that?

But Chuck...Kirk's rug. Come on. Chewie is a much better rug. ;)

Oh I like both, believe me. ST has traditionally done better on TV. With 2 new TV shows coming though, SW might have a similar cult following on television. But I've always watched the ST series, from TNG up until Voyager (I don't get UPN on my dish). They have some of the most human and prolific themes I've ever seen on TV, and they made for riveting television viewing.

However...even ST guys are jealous of lightsabers. ;)

Just a few more hours, and the circle is complete....

Now that i've thought about it for way to long i've realized something.... the circle is only 2/3rd's complete. Considering good 'ol Lucas has yet to write and film the last 3 episodes. If you're thinking about believing him when he says he's done.... just don't be surprised when the numbers from this movie push him into doing the last one's in 10-15 years. He'll do it, if not play a big role in it happening, it's all about the benjamins.

My thing isn't with the kind of people you'd see on that Triumph the Insult Comic Dog clip,  (although I'm not really wild about any of the real obsessives, from any sci-fi show) my main dislike at this point is the huge marketing blitz/hype-fest.. but then again, that keeps me out of the theater for most movies these days. (last thing I saw in a theater was Goldmember, I think.. and before that, I think it was the last Batman movie.. and even then the hype was nauseating)
