why is everyone so serious?

I haven't been a member long but it seems like everyone is so serious. not much for jokes and comeradery. to be honest...Kinda stuffy. Thinkin about just drivin my bird and not messin around w/forums. this is the first T-Bird/cougar forum I've looked at and people are so serious. Not the best of first impresions. I reallize not everybody can please everyone all the time but theres alot of negative talk here. I tried to post a thread a couple days ago "Glee Anyone", just for fun & laughs and got a bunch of seriousness. Can everyone change my first impresion? hope so. I love thes fox cars. (.)(.)

As you said. You havent been a member long. Patience child!!! LOL. Seriously though, this place has it's moments, some real good ones too. Stick around enough and you'll be entertained alright. I promise you'll see some of MY usual asinine antics and be quite entertained (though shaking your head as well)....

It's the weather. People are never this sardonic when they can go outside and do stuff without the fear of frostbite.

What they mostly said. You can never judge on first impressions. You have to get to know the forum, and the people. I've been here for years, and have gotten to now many people here, over the phone, and even met a few in person. Settle in, and be a part of things. I see you have, at the writing of this post, 28 posts, and you became a member this month........you're brand new.  I know around here, with the weather being what it is, and work, and everything else, I've been busy and have a lot on my plate ....so do many others. As stated above, when the warmer weather shows, more people here are involved more hands on with the cars and get really talkative, and, whether we like it or not, there's always some drama that shows it's head. When things are going realy slow at home and with the cars, there's not always a lot to post......sometimes.LOL.

In the end, being here is your choice , and we can't beg you to stay. For all things Fox Thunderbird and Cougar, people who are able and willing to help with info, and just, for the most part, good people, this is the forum to be at. If you're over 18, all I can say is that you're all grown up, and you can do what you want to do. Sometimes in order to see the best of everything,a little time and patience is needed.

Now, I have a GT-40 intake plate prototype to fab up today.

I am going to address the statements in your post in order, please bear with me.

First, I am going to ask that you describe (specifically) what you define as seriousness, with examples.  You speak of "alot of negative talk here" and I ask again that you be more specific and post examples.

The fact is that you haven't been a member long enough to pass judgment on this forum.  I have been on this forum for nearly a decade and I will tell you nothing else comes close to this group of people.  They are the best.  Period.  And I am on ALOT of other forums.  It is of course your choice if you choose to leave the forums and "just drive your bird" but nobody will benefit from that.  You will lose the most, in the form of the vast information that is stored on the board and within the members, but we will also lose out because every member makes us a stronger board.  Also, there aren't really any other boards geared towards our cars so good luck if you intend to find a substitute.

The way I see it, you are a noob.  It is the noob's job to make a good impression on the board, not the other way around.  You can't say you weren't welcomed properly to the board because I was the first to post on your ground effects post to answer and to welcome and then again later on showing how to post pictures.  That is what I consider first impressions.

Now lets get to the heart of the matter.  Glee.  Yep, I am going there.  I am not butthurt about you not liking it, nor am I trying to force it upon you.  You posted about a show that I like and I very briefly responded that "I love Glee."  I obviously catch hell for watching this show all the time from my buddies but it doesn't bother me one bit.  If it did, I would have never openly admitted watching it on here.  I also find that most people that talk trash on it have never watched it.  It is funny, upbeat, has hot chicks, and great songs.  The show's creator envisioned it as an escape from all the shows on tv about crime, violence, lawyers, etc.  Your post on the matter makes you look very close minded and intolerant of anything that isn't engine powered but you will find that most people here are multifaceted with a wide variety of interests.

In closing, take a moment to reflect on "first impressions" and the way it changes perceptions of an individual or a group.  Only you can decide to stay, but I personally hope you do.
