It's a Cougar version of a Tbird Sport. Trac Loc 2.73 rear gear in a 7.5 rearend, 10" drum brakes, possibly a swaybar and quadshocks.
Floorshift aod, 5.0SO engine.

Other than that, no, nothing special...just a 22 year old Fox car that only a few select people even give a shiznit about. That you're here posting about it makes you one of those people. Enjoy your ride. :D

Mine had a 8.8 with 3.08s and 10" drums.  I think it was the towing package?

88 XR-7's had 8.8 Trac-Loc rears with 3.08 gears standard, quad rear shocks with handling suspension, monochromatic paint scheme (Black, Red or White only) 15" Turbine wheels (color-keyed or argent) articulated sport seats, floor shift and sadly, 5.0 SO V8 / AOD with  2-into-1-into-2-fake dual exhaust.

Well, Tbird Sports have a quad shock 7.5, so that's what G-money was meaning...
Yeah, I forgot that some, not all XR7's did in fact get the 3.08 8.8...had a brain fart there, lol

In fact, if any of you savvy junkyard scroungers ever come across an '88 XR7....there's a good chance it has a trac loc, and 10" drums for 4 lug...

Every 88 XR7 I've seen in the bone yard (5) has had an 8.8 rear.
88 Thunderbird LX: 306, Edelbrock Performer heads, Comp 266HR cam, Edelbrock Performer RPM intake, bunch of other stuff.

I have never dospoogeented an '88 XR7 with a 7.5" rear. They ALL had 8.8" rear ends with 10" drum brakes and of course the quad shocks.

It was possible on other models to have a 7.5" rear with quad shocks. In fact that's how 1987 XR7's were (and all the way back to '84 XR7's, in fact).
The 1988 XR7 was unique with the 8.8" factory rear end.
