clutch cable/quadrant

i guess this woudl be the most appropriate place for this...    Yesterday on the way home from school, i went to shift from 2nd to 3rd and the clutch hit the floor with the quadrant clicking, and i could pull a ton of slack outta the clutch cable... so today after school, I go to advance and I get a new clutch cable and install it, and the the little "dog-bone" right above it on he side of the tranny. well i hop in and engauge the clutch, and the quadrant clicks the whole way threw about half petal and then the clutch engauges, but it doesnt really engauge till it hits the floor. Do you have any ideas? Im thinking the plastic quadrant is worn out? Thanx for all. Oh by the way, its an 83 (... i know the newer ones had some sort of hydrolic system...)

ook. I got it to work. (*knocks on wood) I tried alotta different stuff but the final was a STEEDA aluminum quadrant (that i had to modify a little), and an 94-04 mustang clutch cable. The clutch cable had a screw on the end connecting to the tranny arm, so it was adjustable. I had bought a new tbird cable but it was too short after the STEEDA quadrant. so i tried the old stetched out cable that i removed the first time, and it was very very close (like 5 cm) but it wouldn't work. So i went to Laurel Mountain Mustang, and they suggested this setup (there was actually a guy there that had a fox TC, and said he had seen this type of setup before...) So all in all it was like a $80 job. And I envy the hydrolic setup in the newer Birds! (86-88 right?) If anybody wants/needs pictures.... lemme know. hope i can help someone... :D
