On an Explorer engine, you can run any small block Ford intake (meaning any intake that'll fit a SBF). It's a 5.0. I've had a Cobra intake, stock intake, two explorer intakes, and now (for now) a GT-40 intake. I have a Mountaineer engine (same as explorer). It was less than 15,xxx miles when I bought it and installed it this past summer. Great engine. I also added and replaced parts like the cam, intake, added a distributor, ported heads, etc. With Speed Density, your cam choices are limited. Just add Mass Air and go with a bigger cam. Easy stuff. I was badgered to install Mas Air,and had my reservations, but it was super easy, and well worth it (If you're going with a bigger cam). The GT40-P heads are very nice, and not a big deal. People seem scared of them, but I have had no issues at all and use BBK shorty enequal length headers. I have Trick Flow Stage 1 cam. You'll also need better valve springs if you use Explorer/Mountaineer heads. Those that come stock are NOT for high performance applications.
