Another digital dash question. November 08, 2010, 11:13:59 AM Ever since ive owned the car the far right side of my dash hasnt worked, i didnt even know what it would show, i guess it is current MPG and average too. I just assumed a bulb had went out and i just needed to replace it. well about three months ago I was turning into my drive and when i hit the blinker all of my dash nights kicked off, and wouldnt work unless my headlights were off. then the speedo went out and the far right one came on, all the while only when the headlights were off. long story short, the only side working is my RPM side when i dont have my lights on and when the head lights are on i cant see my speed or anything. i guess there is a short somewhere or something but should i just tear into it or is there any place that i should look first? I can hit it with a flash light and see my speed and everything its all working but its not illuminated. Quote Selected
Another digital dash question. Reply #1 – November 08, 2010, 12:47:20 PM Id replace all the bulbs (just so you KNOW they arent burnt) And while you have it out check the two connectors that the cluster plugs into. When I took mine out to try LED's, the far right side with the MPG computer wouldnt come on. After cleaning the pins on both sides of the connector, it worked perfectly fine.Just a thought, the involvement with your headlights makes it sound like a bigger deal than what I'm thinking lol Quote Selected
Another digital dash question. Reply #2 – November 08, 2010, 01:16:14 PM Make sure your headlight switch thumbwheel is not all the way down also.... if it is your dash will go out when the headlights are on Quote Selected

Also, kinda wanna install a Autoguage tach tonight for as long as I don't have my dash lights, the white wire is the one that connects to the dash lights but where does it hook in? Quote Selected

Another digital dash question. Reply #8 – November 09, 2010, 11:00:21 AM The important thing to remember is if you have a column shifter you have to take the column trim off and undo the PRNDL connection in order to take the cluster out , I dont have any pics of that part but once you get the column cover off its pretty self explanatory Its a white plastic collar that has one screw in it Did you check to make sure your dash dimmer is not all the way down before you start to take it apart ? Another digital dash question. Reply #9 – November 09, 2010, 11:01:36 AM Lol I work at O'Reilly and those clusters are expensive! Probably be easier to find one in a boneyard if I ever need one. Oh yeah and a friend asked how hard it'd be to convert it to buttstuffog. I didn't know where to start... how hard would it be? Quote Selected
Another digital dash question. Reply #10 – November 09, 2010, 11:03:51 AM Yeah its all the way up, and when it first started this I gave the screen a good love tap and it came on for a day.... Quote Selected
Another digital dash question. Reply #11 – November 09, 2010, 11:06:07 AM If you have an EVTM ..not too hard but you would lose all the trip/ fuel economy info . You would have to get an buttstuffog cluster from a V8 sport or it gets a little more difficult because you have to modify the non V8 tach I thought about swapping mine but I got it working properly now and I like it ;) Quote Selected
Another digital dash question. Reply #12 – November 09, 2010, 11:10:30 AM And as an added note just last night I pulled my cluster out again to do 199 mph mod and it was 1 hour start to finish soldering and all :D My point is its not hard to take the cluster out Quote Selected
