One of a kind ...I think

This is something I had posted about in the " stupid stuff you admit to considering'  thread

A Mark VII  flip up trunk lock cover modified for my Thunderbird LX

Now I'm sure some of Y'all are going to hate it , but thats ok :D

I first got the idea after I put my hood scoop on , the cover is almost the same exact shape as the scoop and I thought It would tie the front and rear end together
Feel free to comment ...or not lol :hick:

I like it except for the generic looking LX letters. I have a better idea though... Put this in the middle of it:

Very hard for me to say.I am not a fan of those, and on our Birds, to me (now, this is just Me....and I mean no offense at all), I don't think it "fits". I like the smooth recessed look. Again,I see where you're going with the idea, but, our cars are very hard to add anything to on the body without it looking mildly out of place. Sometimes, the car companies do "get it right",and these cars are one of those times. You have to be very careful. It's easy to get carried away with affixing things to a car thinking you're being subtle, then, before you know it,every side of the car has something stuck to it. There are times when things are added that look like they belong (rarely in my opinion),and times when it doesn't. I have changed things on my Bird which some may not agree with as well.I hope not. I have talked myself out of a lot of things.....thank goodness.

Didn't you just get that in the mail today?? You must've been really anxious to get that done LOL

Personally, I like it. With the LX being centered between the FORD and Thunderbird emblems, seems like it just "fits" . Nice work.
FOXLESS!!

I actually thought about that V8 emblem, but I decided on the LX  instead.

And Vinnie I agree with you, about going too far , there is a fine line between tasteful and tacky and I also realize I am tiptoeing on it .

To be perfectly honest I REALLY miss my Mark VII and I have  tried to only make exterior modification that my Mark had stock  (hood scoop not withstanding )
When I bought the car it had 5.0 badges and I couldnt get rid of them quickly enough , but I did install LX emblems in their place.

But all that being said we all have different opinions and tastes , and I would never fault someone for voicing their opinion .
At least we are all loving the fox birds :D

BTW y'all missed the t-bird in the high mounted  third brake light lens

I didn't miss it! I actually did this on my 1989 Tbird. However on my current Bird I don't really want to add any more birds to what is there already.

I am not afraid of giving my opinion on exterior mods. Some things look good to me while other things just look excessive or unecessary. I can also take criticism. For instance Vinnie was not fond of the big bird emblem in the middle of my passenger airbag delete cover. I decided later not to carry it over when I refinished the dash in black and silver. I also do not expect everyone to like my silver on black dash and door panel contrast. I do however try for an OEM look with my mods.

The only badges I intend for the exterior of my Bird exterior are the 02-05 Thunderbird script nameplate for the RH decklid and the previously pictured V8 emblem for each front fender. Of course all the factory style bird emblems will remain in their original locations.

That is really cool , I did give it  the V8 serious thought before I decided on the LX , I actually tried a few different configurations and a Ford emblem too.

I have no problem with opinions or criticism , Hell if I did I wouldnt post pics ;)

I know I have tried some things in the past and then changed my mind
 This one I like :D

I have the '02 T-Bird script on the passenger side of my trunk lid.I've used it since they first came out.Very subtle and effective......I think so anyway. On the DS side of the trunk I have my "Hurst Equipped" badge......because the Sport is Hurst equipped. On the other hand, just because I like it,and think it "fits" doesn't mean I'm right.I get very picky and tend to over think a lot of the small things on the Sport.Still,it all depends on the owner's view of his/her own car. I still like your car,and I think the scoop looks great.I can't wait to get rid of my TC hood and get back to a flat hood.

The FORD logo bugs me. T-birds prior to 1989 never had a FORD logo anywhere on the body, because they didn't need it.;)

Something needs to go away.Including the tag frame,I count seven emblems....3 Ford blue ovals, the LX on the lock, the two Factory Birds on the tail lights, and the Thunderbird script. That's a lot of stuff in a small area. Granted, that's my opinion, but, as stated before, less is more.
