Bee take over!!!!!!! October 04, 2010, 02:44:44 PM So I had a really bad week the bees were trying to take over my attic so I set off some bug bombs, then after I came back this is what I saw. I was able to get them all to go inside the collum then I took a hole saw and drilled a hole the size of my mosquito fogger tip and let her rip. within 10 min I had like a coffee can full of bee's. 1 week later no bee's +1 for me -1 for the dumb bee's:shakeass: Quote Selected
Bee take over!!!!!!! Reply #2 – October 04, 2010, 04:44:56 PM You should have called your state agriculture department to have a beekeeper try and collect them.A shortage of honeybees is a serious crop pollination problem. Quote Selected

I'll just live and let live, unless one gets in the house, which usually this time of year when the temps start getting into the low-to-mid 30's at night, they'll occasionally get in.(Honeybees, that is.)I have an old, huge Oak tree about 20 feet off of my front porch, there's a swarm of honeybees in there, and they've been using it for 10+ years...never bothered me, and they can stay as long as they want lol.The hole they nest in is about 30 feet up though, so not much danger.Unless you live in a pretty dense residential section, or the swarm was very close to a well used entry door, a beekeeper could put an empty hive with a queen in it, and got them to relocate for you...probably for free...bees aren't cheap lol Quote Selected
Bee take over!!!!!!! Reply #5 – October 04, 2010, 06:17:21 PM well, I have too small kids and it is 15 feet from my front door so they don't mean squat to me over my kids.lol I called a local bee keeper and they wanted $100 just to come out to tell me I have bee's, then whatever they want to remove them, and they were going to be a few days since they were so busy. I am just glad I got to them before they made a honeycomb, and I was lucky enough not to get stung. Quote Selected

Bee take over!!!!!!! Reply #7 – October 04, 2010, 07:40:25 PM You've got a 347 T-bird, you sustain massive cuts, AND you destroyed a small nation of bees. You have my vote for superhero of the week. And personally, when I have winged, stinging, invaders in my presence, I do everything possible to take them down. Quote Selected

Bee take over!!!!!!! Reply #10 – October 05, 2010, 06:22:22 PM Honey bees are pretty docile, and I would think there would be a bee keeper who would take them, but at this point the whole discussion is a bit moot. Assuming, however, that they were run out of the house and not just a swarm that had landed there, you will need to do something about the massive amount of honey and honey comb in your walls. If you do not, you will have ants... lots of them.Shiny Side Up!Bill Quote Selected
Bee take over!!!!!!! Reply #11 – October 05, 2010, 06:34:54 PM they just came that day and I got rid of them that day, they only had a little wax inside the column and I don't think they made anything in the attic because 30min after seeing them I bombed the attic. I know everyone says that a bee keeper will remove them for free but none of those people have ever called one:punchballs:, I called 5 different places also. I am no expert but I don't think they had time to make a honey comb because they were under attack all day:mullet::flame: Quote Selected
Bee take over!!!!!!! Reply #12 – October 06, 2010, 02:05:51 AM I'm really surprised you couldn't get a beekeeper to come set out a hive. Around here, they all piss themselves and trip over their own feet when someone has a swarm of bees "in the way".My soon-to-be brother in law asked me a time or 3 about the herd of bees in my 100+ year old oak tree....I told him some day I'll have a ton of honey...the bees can stay where they are. Besides, for the last 5 years running, I've had monstrous amounts of apples from my 2 trees...kinda silly to mention this, but if you've ever seen The Bee Movie......the story line in it is true...without bees, we'd ALL be in deep shiznit. :flip: Quote Selected
Bee take over!!!!!!! Reply #13 – October 06, 2010, 07:20:14 AM yes, I did see the movie, but these asswipes would not even come out to look at my problem without a service charge. GO FLORIDA:punchballs: Quote Selected
Bee take over!!!!!!! Reply #14 – October 06, 2010, 10:06:40 AM You gotta do what you gotta do, I'm not for killing bee's but sometimes you just have to. I like to make some traps. Cheap and easy. Take a used pop bottle cut the top of so you can flip it over with the top down inside the bottle. Pour in some pop and watch -the bees come in and find the sweet stuff but get stuck in there once you've got them in there haul them someplace else and set them free. Works for me. You would be amazed at how fast that bottle will fill up. Not sure how well that would work for your Ton of bees. Stuckman Quote Selected
