What motor mounts and headers did you use?

Also is that a Quadrajet? Or is a Carter AFB?

I used stock mounts from the cougar 5.0, the headers are Mac 5.0 shorties for the mustang and the carb is a Variable Venturi. The steering shaft hits the headers so I need to fix that.

That is what I want to hear! Next year I'am building a 393 stroker for it.

Variable venturi? Yuk yuk yuk! :yuck: May I ask why you are using that?

Variable venturi? Yuk yuk yuk! hmmm that dosen't sound good.
Its the carb that came with the motor, by the way your describing it makes me wonder if its the reason it runs bad. What would you recommend instead? I am a little financially challened at this time though...

VV Carbs are dreaded over at the Crown Vic boards where guys have 'em on all thier Police cars. They're hard to work on and repair.

Ford had many problems with them. A simple Holley would work WAY better. You wouldn't believe the difference its like night and day! Save some money up for a Performer intake and a Holley 650 double pumper and if you want a mild cam. I will guarantee you that beast will come alive without pulling off those heads.

Did you have any clearance issues at all with the 351? If so what?

Thanks, James

p.s. Mods, I wanted some pics but I guess this may be the wrong place. It should be in the engine section?

I only had clearence probs with the headers and steering column. The swaybar is really close to the oilpan but dosen't seem to be a problem yet, though I haven't had it on the road yet.

Thanks for the carb info, I'll be looking into something better hopefully soon :)
