torque converter ?s

in my 84 bird 5.0 do i have a locking or non locking converter?
someone gave me a 2800 stall lentech non locking converter and i am wondering if it is compatable
i am running a stock bore forged bottom end,tfs stage 2 cam p&p gt40p heads ,dual plane air gap intake and a vac sec 650 carb

You should contact Lentech but assuming you have a std lockup AOD, no it will not work, will require the input shaft be changed to a one piece type... There are non-lockup converters that can be used but those are designed to use the std AOD dual input shaft..

I have a PI Stallion non-lock up 2800 stall converter and it needed a one piece input shaft. IIRC the Lentech converts are similar and require a one piece input shaft.
88 Thunderbird LX: 306, Edelbrock Performer heads, Comp 266HR cam, Edelbrock Performer RPM intake, bunch of other stuff.

so i wud just need to get a hardend one piece input shaft?

Yep. You have to take the trans apart to put it in though.
