235/55/17 tires?

has anybody ran them before or will they be too tall?
1987 turbo coupe 5speed: Boport stage 3 head/2.5 cam , Precision stage 3 50trim .63 turbo, Tial 38mm wastegate, Jangus gutted/ported intake manifolds, 60mm tb, Jangus open dumptube, Jangus 3" elbow, Perrin boost controller,Esslinger adjustable cam pulley, Esslinger small crank pulley, stinger FMI, RFL BOV, Spec stage 3 clutch, B&M short throw, 140 speedo, Walbo 255lph, BBK fpr, 3G alternator, ARP studs.  Be faster... :poke:

Too tall for what? I have 255.40.17's up front and 275.40.17's out back. No rub,no issues.

well i want to run 235/55/17 out back, its 15mm taller then your tires. i dont know if that will rub the fender wells. just seeing if anybody has done it. im running the same back tires as you right now vinnie

Isn't that a narrower tire though? It should be fine.15mm isn't really that much,and my tires still have a lot of room from the top of the tire to the inner fender.I even have a little room left to the outer fender.

I think youre a bit mislead by tire dimensions. A 235/55/17 is 1.5 inches (38.1mm) taller than a 275/40/17. The aspect ratio (40, 55) is a percentage of the tread width, not an actual measurement.

I'd still have enough room in the rear fenders for that kind of added height.
