back to the track

Last time at the track, the car's best time was around a 15.1 @ 91 na.
New mods: performer rpm in place of performer.
jba shorties, upr X pipe and borla lers vs stock exhaust.
pro-m 80, 30# inj, jaybird chip, cbaza strat vs de speed density.
paxton with powerpipe vs na.
New best time 14.2 @ 99
60' was still poor at 2.21. The 14" street tires have to be babied far too much.
The car was scaled at 3680# with a full tank reading 20 gallons. 17 gal. by the time it was driven to the track.
The times are definately slower than they should be, but considering the tires, heat, and pcv system, it just might dip into the 13's and hit 100mph with some tires/tweaks.
Horsepower guesses?
230 @ the wheels 290 @ the crank?
Bolt on hp since last run?
Rpm intake 0-5 hp
Exhaust 10-15 hp
Fuel inj and tune 15-20 hp
Supercharger 40-50 hp

 Thanks for the advise :D

I cut a 2.20 on 225/55/16 street tires and stock suspension. I spin like crazy with my combo. My best run thus far has been a 14.6 at 93. I should be turning about .5 second quicker times so I feel your pain:D

What rpm did you trap the 93 at and are you happy with the gears or thinking of trying another?

 Thanks,
  Mike

Get some drag radials, if you can launch the car while producing a little boost, short times will fall by at least .3 and probably run 13.5@101 or more...

Still this is a good example of why the E7 heads are shiznit... Running NA with the Trick Flow heads, similar weight, 95* day and engine at 200*, I went 13.6@102 during a Fun Ford Weekend... Best NA on a cool night was 13.11@105(1.90 60ft), sprayed her to a 12.23@112(1.72 60ft) on a 75Hp shot...

I don't know what rpm I trapped at as I really wasn't paying attention. I like the gears. Most of my problems have to do with playing with the ignition timing and the launch.

That would be a much appreciated gain, I'm begining to understand the short times are where it's at

No doubt about the Trick Flows, that's proven and will be my 1st choice on the next short block.

Very solid times. What rpm are you hitting the traps at?

 Thanks for the help

I believe I was at around 5200 in the traps but was using rather short 225/50/16 drag radials, if I remember correctly, that equates to roughly 4.10 gears on 26" tires... BTW I have 3.73s... Later I went to 235/60/16 DRs and never could match the numbers of the shorter tires...

Which tires were better with your 60'?
The shorter ones?

Your car is definately stronger and likes more gear. Do you think mine would run any better than it did with less gear? On a 1D1 shift it trapped @98 ~ 5200rpm with a slight bounce off the rev limiter during a shift. This was slower than the 1st regular run where the transmission auto shifted.
I should have access to rear end asm. from an turbo coupe (3.55) and a sn95 mustang (3.27). Still undecided on 4/5 lug wheels, gearing, tires, axles.
If by some stroke of luck she makes another run tomorrow, I'll be looking for that 13.5. @ 101   Hopefully the 7.5 holds up on dr's. :hick:

 Appreciate the help

The short times I posted in my first response were with the 225/50s, probably the best NA on the 235/60s was around 1.94-1.95, never sprayed it on the larger tires...

Yeah my combo likes RPMs, still pulling hard when she bounces off the 6250 fuel cut in the ECU... With more converter & gear, plus a chip to allow it to rev to 6500, she'd no doubt have run a 12.8 or 9...

G'luck at the track...

Drove about 50 miles to the track and it was closed. They may have been worried about a hint of rain.
More time to make more power!
