moog springs

I just ordered some Moog springs from Summit Racing.

Moog 8599's for the rear and Moog 8600's for the front.  I want a slightly lowered stance with a stock-like ride.  I have these ed fox body mustang Steeda springs in now and they have been a mistake from day 1 (too low, too rough). 

Do you guys think this combo will be OK for a full accessory/iron head 5.0 on the front?  How about with my CHE adjustable LCA's in the rear?  Anyone had any experience with aftermarket springs and the adjustable LCA's?  I know they do raise your ride height even in the fully lowered position but I'm not sure how much.

The goal is to go with some nice 15" wheels and ditch the 17's on it now and have a decent ride.  I am just ready for a change in the look of the car and I find myself reminiscing about how my car was in its 1980's configuration with small diameter wheels and white letter tires. 



I am taking the car on Hot Rod Power Tour this year and I'll be ed if I am going to be beat to death for hundreds of miles by these big wheels and rough springs!!

Anyone?  Anyone have experience with non-stock/stock springs and CHE adjustable lowers?

No experience with the CHE's but not all lowered cars ride rough.  That has some direct dealing with the dampers not working with the springs correctly.  I have 245/40/17's on my Coupe (I know its a Mustang) and had the H&R Super Sport springs on it with Tokico Alumina adjustable dampers on all four corners.  Drove the car for 6 years like that and put over 85K on it and the ride/performance was awesome.

We all know the T-Birds are heavier but you should still be able to find a good spring/damper combo that will make the ride very nice and get the car down where it will handle and not slosh all over the road.  This would allow you to keep the nice wheel/tire combo that you have on the car.

If you are just wanting a change then I completely understand and I think the Moogs will serve you well as I ran them on my T-Bird years ago and they were a good factory replacement.

Are the CHE adjustable lower control arms designed around using a Mustang rear spring?

I run 8600's on the front now, They didn't lower it enough for me, better than stock, I do have alum. heads, but that didn't matter.I do have mach 1 springs to put in but haven't yet. They do handle well with my ride now, just wish it was a little lower . V-8 deamon runs a little different mooge that looks better height wise. I also got CHE adjustable with bullits on the rear, I don't have much adjustment left to raise it to match the front. Not sure how to describe the ride, firm ,responsive.Without big boy's in the back seat!!

I have Moog springs, the CHE rear uppers and lowers, and Koni shocks, with 3:73 gears in my 7.5.

Rear axle is the greatest thing I've felt.

I am not sure what the intended spring is for the CHE arms...I'm guessing that dimensionally, a T-bird spring and a Mustang spring are close to each other, but I'm not sure on that.

The more I think about it the more I realize that I really don't want to spend money on new wheels...I may end up keeping the Cobra's.

Have any pics of the front end you could share?  You run 17" wheels as well, right?  I am hoping that my car doesn't look like a 4x4 with these Moog springs...

Well thats encouraging!  Right now if I hit a bump in the middle of a curve or something, the ass end of the car feels like it hops.  Not a very good feeling!  On rough roads (which we have alot of around here) the car drives me absolutely nuts.

 Kitz...that really looks pretty good if you ask me.  I could sacrifice some of my lowered stance for a better ride.  I'm 28 going on 50 I guess.  lol.

I would of liked about a 1/2" lower, but the ride is good and corners well. I did replace everything up front also.

Wow Kitz!  I love the stance of your Cat!  That's a great looking ride man.  Are those 17" rims on that thing?  It's hard for me to tell if those are 16", or 17" rims.  That's clean looking!  :D
