Anyone using a Taurus fan ?

Picked up a 93 3.8 Taurus fan to eliminate my waterpump mounted clutch fan. It's going to fit very well. I also picked up a Perma-Cool  "Vari-Cool" fan switch kit. Where should I mount the relay ? It's got a short wire for the probe and I need to get to the variable control (160* to 210*) to make adjustments.
Just curious if anyone is using something similar and where you mounted it.
Thanks :burnout:

Vinnie, I thought about that location but I would have to stand on my head to adjust the "pot" switch.

I thought about that. Any ill effect with it being on high ? Just "set it and forget it " ? :D

You can't here my fan any louder than any other electric fan. When the engine is running, the fan isn't noticeable.

As far as "set it and forget it"....yes,that's right. My fan comes on when I start the car, goes off when I turn it off.Never had a problem at all and the car always runs cool.

That would technically over cool the engine not allowing it to reach proper temps.
Causing the ecc to dump more fuel.
It also drastically reduces the life of the fan.
I would use the thermostat, must be a reason every manufacture has one programmed into the eec and does not let their fans run consistantly???
It also puts a large constant load on the electrical system, reducing amps available for other accessories and reducing alternator life.

I have a Supercoupe fan in my 86 Cougar.  I mounted the relay between the starter solenoid and the battery temporarily and have the fan on low anytime the car is on.  I ran the fan in my Supercoupe for a few years on all the time in the low setting and it always ran great on temp, about a 1/3 of the way up.  Before doing that wiring mod it would run about 3/4 of the way up.

I definately wouldnt run the fan nonstop like Vinnie, for reasons described above.

Besides it kinda ruins the point of having the electric fan over the engine mounted fan.
And those fans draw a LOT of amps. Taxes the alternator more, more load on the alt means more load on the engine.

Though a switch inside would be nice to be able to switch between thermostat control and always on, for say, at the drags or something.

Not to mention with the TC nose.....You want to make sure you get flow even sitting at lights.

Has anyone used the DC controller? I hear it is a simple hookup and controller.

I run mine on low, with a fan controller, I only know it's on when the the engine is off. It's about the only way I know it actually works. Rock steady at 185.
