3.45 Axle Ratio. Wait, what? Reply #3 – March 24, 2010, 05:54:42 PM Yes but I thought all the V-8 models were 2.73. You need to crawl under the car and look for yourself.TED Quote Selected
3.45 Axle Ratio. Wait, what? Reply #4 – March 24, 2010, 07:32:23 PM Yea I believe standard for a 5.0 was 2.73s....and then 3.08s were optional. Or *maybe* 3.27s, if I remember correctly from coolcats, 87 and 88 the 5.0 XR7s could have a 3.27 trac-lok if ordered that way. Quote Selected
3.45 Axle Ratio. Wait, what? Reply #5 – March 24, 2010, 07:43:56 PM 3.45's were only for the Turbo 4 carsOne way for sure to tell is, jack the rear end up and turn the tire 1 revolution and count how many times the driveshaft makes complete rotations. About 3.5 times would be your answer. Quote Selected

3.45 Axle Ratio. Wait, what? Reply #9 – March 24, 2010, 09:56:02 PM Well, the sticker on my door jamb says I have a locking 3.08 axle. I think I'll do what mcb said, just for the hell of it. It is a 7.5" by looking at the shape. Quote Selected

3.45 Axle Ratio. Wait, what? Reply #11 – March 25, 2010, 07:30:31 AM That was a pretty common occurance. Those vins were hand stamped on the assembly line. It seemed to happen at the Dearborn facility more than anywhere else. Quote Selected

3.45 Axle Ratio. Wait, what? Reply #14 – March 26, 2010, 11:54:58 PM AFAIK the 3:45 wasn't available for order on a 5.0 for any reason, I believe the combo would have had to be smog certified... Anyway the data tag calls out a 3.08, just another Ford screw up...One of my cousins worked at the Norfolk Assembly(now closed), on a tour for myself and a friend in '94 he said his son wanted a certain axle ratio in his truck but wasn't available, I said "Lee you can't fix that"??? He said "nope parts are ID and loaded on the assembly line by Job/VIN number, and besides the supporting plants only ship parts in after the vehicles order number was received in the front office... A axle assly would have to be mis-marked at the plant that mfg'd it to be incorrectly installed... Quote Selected
