Read this thread and try pulling codes again. (ignore the last post #10 in the thread)
You may or may not have a working check engine light. If the CIL doesn't blink, use the meter or test light method.

I watched this thread, he doesn't have codes , no 11 no nothing. he has no o2 sensors, instant light on computer will run it's own thing. He either doesn't know how to read codes or I don't know. You have to have a code from the ecc without O2'S. The comp needs that.

That's why I want him to try again on the codes. Maybe something is wrong with the code reader he was using.

if your still not getting a code 11  I would think you have a computer problem.
I had that happen once. no codes, but still wouldn't run and idle right. Mine ran great after the new computer and a new temp sensor

No O2 sensors? Yeah that's a big problem, a big one. If he bought the thing with the O2s removed then who the hell knows what other crazy things were done to the car....

ok, i got a code 11, but if after i start it, hold it at 3 grand, you can hear the computer make adjustments and then it will run fine all day long...now im more confused then i was, and it is running fine without the o2 sensors...like i said, its now just when i start it up that it struggles to keep goin'

you can manually check your temp sensors and any others, with a meter to make sure they are in proper working range.

Without input from the O2 sensors the computer is in failure mode and will not run correctly. You need to get those O2s in ASAP. It's not optional. You will have problems getting the car to run right forever if you don't put the O2 sensors back in.

i think the o2 sensors are an extremly important part of the sefi system.  The computer needs communication from every input sensor in order to properly run the engine.  It's not like retro fitting an old school carbureted engine with aftermarket fuel injection....where you can choose not to use o2 sensors if you want.  Don't the headers have a spot for the o2 sensors?    The following is an excellent website to read and understand fuel injection:  http://www.fordfuelinjection.com/

i would gather codes and add the o2's.  But that's just me,  though.  In the past year on this forum i've learned enough to do basic trouble shooting.  I am in no way an expert.....yet.  In fact it feels strange chiming with advice cause all i ever do here is ask questions.......

absolutely manditory=o2 sensors!

Welcome, are you in Pa.?

I agree with the guys on here, you really need the O2 sencers. I have an aftermarket exhaust without the cats but I do have the sencers, although my chl comes on and throws a code that says the o2 sensor on the the right bank isn't opening. Come to find out when the did my exhaust he didn't leave much room between the pipe and firewall where he put the bung and it crimped the wire.

When My mark VII fuel pump failed it acted like that too , I'd check fuel pressure and have the TFI tested
