pp/s pump differences...not so much

Well, as some of you may know, I swapped in a '89 Stang 5.O into my 'Bird, usuing the Stang accessories, p/s pump, etc.

The problem is that the Tbird's high pressure line fitting at the pump end is too large for the Mustang's pump. So I'm off to see if I have a Tbird-specific pump on my other parts motor.

I wasn't aware there was a difference...just thought I'd post in case anyone besides me ran into this. BTW, no mention of this on CoolCats ;):D

it shouldnt be. 5.0 stang thru 93 and the t-birds thru 88 take the same pump.

I'm not going to argue that with you, as this may be a swapped pump from something else. I DO know the line fitting on the Tbird matches up with the pump from my other SO, as well as the pump off of my white car...going to do a little mixing and matching to see if I can get this put together. Looks like the radiator and fan/shroud will come back out now...it.

I'll have pics of it to show just what in the sam hill I'm talkin' about.

On a completely unrelated topic, I got the O2 sensor harness from the old 5.0, as apparently I forgot to take the one from the stock engine before my buddy took it.

Anywho...

pump may be from a CV or truck.  they list a different pump for those.  i did some looking today to see what was the same when looking up a pump for my bird.  hell, the bird pumps are even the same as a 2002 taurus with the standard 3.0 OHV motor!
Nab that pump from your otehr 5.0!

Well....I discovered that the Stang's pump had some kind of fitting or adaptor..I thought it was part of the pump, but a 7/8 wrench, and about 3 seconds of work, and out it came. Stang pump is back in, and hooked up, no problems.

The other Tbird pump I have is from an '85 5.0, and of course the brackets are different than the Stang, I could've used it, but the return line nipple was busted off.

Also the 3.8 pump is the same, but the bracket to it is obviously not gonna work for a V8...so I do have a spare....if I can get the pully off to switch it, lol.

So I guess this puts paid to this account;)
