Very impressive times, sounds like youve got your combo dialed in nice. You wouldnt happen to know the weight of the car would you? Later manRonnie Quote Selected
Re: got some new times in my 86 tbird Reply #8 – April 20, 2005, 07:21:01 PM well chrome 302 the car weighs in at around 3550 i beleive that may be before the subframes but not much extra weight there, also i have dynoed it with my old ported lower explorer intake with explorer upper and e303 cam it made 297rwhp and 326 rwtq if u want the dyno sheet ill send it to u just shoot me and email, since those numbers ive changed to and ed curtis custom cam and a cleaned up performer intake from him so im sure its around 310 to the tires i think, also what are yalls input on putting 4.10s in over my 3.73 the cam guy is telling me there 12.2xs in it but he said ill need more gear, let me know your thoughts also per calcualtions i cross the line at 5300 in 3rd thanks le me know Quote Selected
Re: got some new times in my 86 tbird Reply #9 – April 22, 2005, 12:02:06 PM your mechanic is right if your still accelerating at the end of the 1/4 you can use more gear. just watch out for drivabilty issues and gas milage. When we campainged the old 64 mustang coupe we ended up going all the way to 4:56's so we were hitting top end about 150 ft short of the traps. Using the old "d" code 289 4 bbl it put us in "N-stock" class (no external engine mods, stock displacement plus 10%, stock outer case on the tranny, no body mods) don't know what the new rules are haven't raced since the early 80's. but our best time running the "stock set up was 13.40 something Quote Selected
