I found a set of GST ground Effects

I was at a local swap meet this weekend and I ran into a man with a ton of mustang stuff, and a small pile of 2.3l turbo stuff. I started talking with him and he had a set of thunderbird GST effects wrapped up in cardboard. He showed them to me, they weren't the greatest. THey had quite a few cracks in them, and there were small chips/ pieces missing al throughout the side skirt and front bumper pieces.

They were marked $2000. I could not believe it, after talking with me he told me the lowest he would go would be $1800.  Maybe its just be, but this seemed ridiculous. 1800 for a set of mediocre effects seems way way overpriced. I mean you can get a decent 87-88 thunderbird for $2000!

Just thought I would post and see what everyone else had to say.

If they were in excellent shape, I'd pay that for them.

Then I'd find someone who worked with fiberglass, and start making repops of them, not for a profit though.

These are very far from perfect. I talked to a man who does fiberglas repair and he explained that the pieces missing could be grafted in but its expensive and it is not nearly as strong as it was when it was made.

hahaha yeah good luck to the guy finding a seller. I have a perfect condition never painted before set for the 83-86 and I can't even find anyone who'd pay $1000 for them. This guys asking 2000 for a mediocre set? He's on crack.

I turned down an entire running V-8 84 T-bird that was wearing a complete set (somewhat rough) of ground effects. Seller even had the front piece in the garage. Only wanted $1000 for the car. Could've got it for $800 probably.

I like the natural looks of the car.I've sold three sets of ground effects here on the forum.I just CAN'T put them on the Sport.I tried.......just couldn't do it.I think the Sport is happier without them.

Thought I would post, I mean I have side skirts that I paid $250 for, which didn't seem unreasonable, but I thought 2k was a lot too. Just wanted to know I wasn't crazy. I really would like a set though... :(

Got my red bird with 'em already installed by PO.  Whole car for $2000, and IT RUNS!  Only had 49,500 on it too.

I LOVE the look it gives the car.  Very NASCAR looking with the right wheels, if that's your thing.  Left Coast looking with the right wheels if that's your thing.  The wheels are what make the ground effects what you want them to be.

I think he's priced over double what they should be priced at, maybe even quite a bit more than double.

It was at thompson. There was a set of scoops for the tc hood. I talked to the guy for a few minutes and he told me about the effects. They were inside his small trailer.
