Bought another Thunderbird October 22, 2009, 09:38:26 PM after dealing with the city all night after my street caved in, right where i park my car no less, i took off work today since i hate working without sleep when my job doesnt have me moving around all day(to keep me awake).while cruising craigslist i spotted a tbird that needed work and the guy wanted it gone today so i called him up and went to look at it.looked it over and aside from the paint being a little weathered and a peice of moulding was missing the body was decent and not all rotted out. bottom of the doors were clean and rust free, bottom of the rear window was rot free and such. needs some work(oil leak from somewhere near the filter i believe, dipstick is cut or the lower part broke off?, brake pedal goes almost to the floor but still stops and the fluids need to be changed) and its a little dirty but its inspected and some stuff under the hood has been replaced so it wasnt exactly someones beater. no pics for you s untill tomorrow im tired and ill take them when the suns out after work :bowdown:my objective with it is to finally try the 5 speed swap i wanted to do awhile ago so when the trans s out im gonna try to be ready for it. Bought another Thunderbird Reply #6 – October 23, 2009, 04:02:05 PM what is this an audit? officially, $100 is what i paid for it.its an 86 with 3.8 v6 and AOD trans, 133k. im not a big fan of the trans since all i ever had was c5 attached to my fox cars and im a bit familiar with how they should feel. here are some pics of it after i dumped it at work, no place to park it at home right now. wanted to take more but the batteries died in it while i was taking them and i was lucky to get these. ill get better ones when i go back on moday since i was rushing to get back to work.after i went and got the title transfered the previous owner gave me a bag of reciepts and another set of keys. she was happy i wanted to fix it and such instead of junking it like they thought they were going to do. the hub caps are all different, one from a cougar, a tbird and a mustang. tires are decent and dont have alot of miles on them. needs a corner lens on the pass. side and the drivers door lock wont lock at all with the key or the brute force of my finger pushing down on the tab. broke something in the door when i tried the key last night but its no big deal since i want to pull the panels and see whats behind them(reciept says the window motors were replaced).was really considering a raider to play with for the winter but figured i would give a foxbody car another chance. Bought another Thunderbird Reply #9 – October 23, 2009, 06:14:15 PM I wouldn't call it an "audit",but more like standard operating procedure on this forum.Full disclosure. Nice score for 4 times that. Quote Selected
Bought another Thunderbird Reply #10 – October 23, 2009, 08:25:40 PM i didnt mean to come off as a jerk, the smiley with the messed up teeth:hick: i put after the audit thing didnt show up. javascript, i thought i had it on for when i put up the attachments.i got no problem letting people know what i pay for stuff because its usually for cheap.thanks for the comments even though im being said jerk still going thru the reciepts and this thing has had some work done to it within the past 2 years. went and got an oil dipstick today for 3 bucks so ill know its filled instead of having to overfill it to know like i did to drive it home.i cant wait to take a look at the oil pressure sender since that was noted on one for a leak and was drilled out and tapped. im betting im going to have to replace that whole thing on the front of the motor because of that. Bought another Thunderbird Reply #12 – October 23, 2009, 09:19:34 PM Actually a great find for $100. That body's in great shape. I only noticed the one ding in the RR quarter under the light. Iffin ya wanna throw away that AOD, lemme know. I might be interested in swapping a C5 even trade. The C5 I refer to has 50K original miles. I didn't know they even offered the AOD behind the 3.8 in '86. I've got TWO 86's. Quote Selected
