That's awesome.Too bad they didn't put that engine in the Mustang... or the Fusion.Isn't that the rumored plan...put the ecoboost into the Mustang? IIRC they are going to put a 4 cyl ecoboost into the Fusion eventually too. They need to do a 4-cyl Ecoboost Ranger. That would be pretty cool too. Ford is really on top of their game right now if you ask me...especially with the new 5.0 motor looming on the horizon. Quote Selected

Maybe the rebirth of the SVO? :cool:As for an EcoBoost Ranger, I too think that would be cool. Ford could make a sporty version Ranger with the EcoBoost and sell the shiznit outta em, I mean look how many guys bought those stupid Xtreme S10s with 4.3 V6 turds in em because they looked cool! Reply #11 – October 09, 2009, 01:38:17 AM Quote from: Blck85TBirdV8;294160Didn't Ford quit making the Ranger? This from Wikipedia:QuoteAccording to a recent article in the Car and Driver, there are three alternatives for Ford: 1) to redesign and continue to build the next generation in North America; 2) to import a smaller version from the plant in Thailand; and 3) to discontinue the Ranger line and exit the compact pickup market in North America. There are rumors that Ford's future product plans in the compact pickup market segment will be announced closer to the end of Ford Ranger production at the Highland Park, Minnesota plant in 2010-2011. There are reports that the plant will be sold and redeveloped once the production is ceased.QuoteThe Ranger replacement, codenamed T6, is being designed and developed by Ford Australia and was originally intended only for world markets other than the U.S. However, T6 engineering prototypes are being tested in the U.S.This new Ranger will greet buyers in 2012 and will be similar to the new international version. It is reported that the new truck will come with two engine choices: a 1.6 L EcoBoost four-cylinder, and the 3.0 L Duratorq diesel for models sold outside the U.S. Quote Selected

This 4 cyl ecoboost/3.0 diesel sounds like a good plan...and diesel Ranger just makes good sense. You would torque for limited towing capability combined with hellacious gas mileage. I would buy one for a daily driver! They need to change it up though, I'm pretty sure the current Ranger is still based off the original design from like...1983.Now they just need to pull out the stops and make an ecoboost V8. I want the power and torque of a V10 with the gas mileage of a V8. lol. Quote Selected
