QUICK Clarification September 19, 2009, 05:37:49 PM Before we run over to the yard and i make any on the spot decisions.an 87-88 TC Rear Has 28 Spline Axles Shafts?Even if i got the Rear setup minus the Axle Shafts, To use 31 Spline Axle shafts i would end up having to change out the differential? If so...Would i just be better off passing on the TC rear and waiting for a 95up Explorer Rear to come in? QUICK Clarification Reply #1 – September 19, 2009, 06:01:40 PM After doing some more research:I assume an Explorer rear isnt going to bolt on at all.SO~I'm back to needing: A TC 8.8 HousingAnd2x 31 Spline Axle Shafts from a 95up Explorer (5 lug disc)1x 31 Spline Differential Carrier from a 95up 8.8 Track Lock Explorer?Am i correct on this? QUICK Clarification Reply #2 – September 20, 2009, 11:36:24 PM Well no one replied So i ended up getting a complete '88 TC Rear End.I'm hoping i'm correct in that just swapping in an 8.8 Explorer Differential + Aerostar, Ranger, Etc Axle Shafts will get me the 31 spline upgrade im looking to achieve. QUICK Clarification Reply #3 – September 21, 2009, 04:25:21 AM i cant remember what axles had 31 spline but im sure the 8.8 TC rear is a 28 spline... so yes axles and differential would have to be swapped to use 31 spline set up Quote Selected
QUICK Clarification Reply #4 – September 21, 2009, 05:58:37 PM Ok, so would a differential carrier from a 1996 Ford Explorer 8.8 bolt into the TC 8.8 Housing? So as long as it will swap, And it's 31 spline, I have a shot at picking one up and i need to look further into it. :burnout: Quote Selected
