Tranny swapping April 13, 2005, 01:42:37 PM I have a 88 Tbird with a 5.0, but the tranny is slipping. Ialso have a 87 Tbird with a 3.8, and the tranny is good. My question is if the tranny behind both motors are the same except the bellhousing. So hopefully if needed I can use the 3.8 tranny behind my 5.0, with a bellhousing swap. Let me know, if anybody else knows. Thank you Quote Selected

If it's an AOD it's an AOD, right? The NA 3.8 trans has one less foward clutch than a 5.0/5.8 trans. But still its gonna be a bunch better tha any slipping 5.0 tranny. The 3.8 Super Coupe trans I have, is actually a little stronger than a 5.0 trans... Quote Selected
