Broken Arm Rest Top Mount

I don't know if I have ever seen a top mount on an arm rest that wasn't broken.  When that happens, the upper part of the arm rest gets real sloppy. It tends to "fall" away from the door panel and sticks out which makes the interior look junky. I don't know what other people have done, but this is what I came up with. I bent a small piece of sheet metal into an "L" and riveted it to the arm rest with three rivets. I drilled a screw hole in the panel to use for attaching it to the inner metal door. I trimmed some of the door panel off and drilled a mounting hole "above" the speaker hole. When I put the screw through the new mount on the arm rest, it draws the arm rest tight/flush to the door panel and helps clean up the interior.

This is an "after" shot of an arm rest I have already fixed. The top sits nice and snug to the door panel, just the way it is supposed to.

I fixed my junky armrests with simple hardware from Lowe's!
