best exhaust upgrade April 12, 2005, 09:26:11 AM really starting to get into this. My son even wants to help and add bucks to the upgrades. we set our sites on some exhaust work. 87 5.0 with aod. want to go with some dual pipes. don't want to do any heavy mods to brackets and such around engine bay and trans. do i need headers, shorties, long tube, equal unequal? h pipe, X-pipe, no crossover at all? how about cats and lers.
