replacing ecu

hey,
Originally my plan was to go with an A9L,but the e303,lifters,stall converter, tranny rebuild would've completely drained me of my money...
so it's back to the DA1 and speed density for now.
I have no experience with electrical other than plugging in switches

How hard is it to swap ECUs?
Can i do it myself? should I?
will my intake and heads effect the ecu badly?(i will be using a stock mustang cam :punchballs:)
i hope someone has done this any help is appreciated
thanks

If you're using a stock H.O cam, just install the 19# injectors, remove your computer and install the DA-1 (direct swap). The heads and intake should be just fine,no worries there.Easy stuff. The lifters are the same between the H.O and S.O engines.

hushiznithe lifters are the same, nice! I didn't know that!!!
i've seen roller conversions with (the spider tray, dog bones, lifters) go for $40 but the mustang cam is flat tappet, no?

i have the haynes repair manual for cougars and the section about the ecu says to go to a specailist and not to do it myself (wtf?) so i was kinda worried..ummmm where is it located?:hick:

im watching a mustang cam on ebay right now with 100k miles that will probally go for $30 shipped so i guess i'll pick it up and im good to go! FINALLY

No,the H.O Stangs have roller cams just like our stock 5.0's do,except the Stang cam is........well.........High Output, and ours isn't.Just remove your stock cam,and install the H.O cam,and re-install your stock roller lifters and associated hardware. You will need to go to the 351W firing order. If the timing chain is original, change it for a new double roller chain while you're swapping cams.Well worth the money.Do you already have the 19# injectors? If not,get some. You really don't need to worry about Mass Air with the stock H.O cam and the heads and intake you have.If you go to the E303,you'll need Mass Air.I know because I had to go through all of that (Thanks for the push Kitz).I'm glad I did. Also,is your EGR spacer 65mm as well.It needs to be if you're going to use a 65mm throttlebody.I just took my spacer to a machine shop, paid $10.00 and they returned it from 60mm to 65.I did have a stock Thunderbird 50mm spacer that I also had opened up.MUCH cheaper than buying an aftermarket pice.

I have some rebuilt 19lb injectors that will go in,thanks dominator

65mm tb and spacer already on my 150hp py motor along with my fenderwell induction kit from bbk, btw i've noticed better mileage with it on (about .6 mpg)

yeah double roller timing chain is on the list as well as e3 spark plugs and a 155lph fuel pump.
other than that im good to go!
I'll keep you guize updated once i start the actual build
thanks :D
