Looked at an '86 Cougar today...

My father has decided to get a car so he won't have to drive his 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 Club Cab 5.9 4X4 daily (With gas at almost a buck a liter I can't say as I blame him), so I suggested a Cougar that I had seen for sale. He asked me to look at it for him, and I did - it's one of those elusive zero option cars we've all discussed here before. It's an '86 GS, V6, C5, 2-bbl, with power mirrors being the only option I could see (no cruise, no tilt, no pw, no pl, no p seats, no A/C). The body had been done (looks to be a good job) and it has a fresh coat of paint, and the mileage is only 134k  kilometers (about 85k miles) (as stated in the "for sale" sign, it might really be 234k or even 334k, but without getting into the car it's hard to tell).

Anyway, my father decided against it - he wants something with some options and is aware of the Ford V6 head gasket issue so he is backing off. However, Thundergrowl, if you wanted to transplant stuff out of your Sport into this Cougar you could turn it into a nice ride. The guy wants $1800 OBO (which usually means $1500), so if you're interested I'll find out more about it for you...

Thanks Thunder Chicken! I have an iron in the fire right now that I will be finding out more on on Monday.  I'll let you know what happens. I may need a place to store it in NS until the ferry starts running to argentia again in June.  Any ideas where I could stash it for a couple month? I may be able to stash it at my brother-in-law's but I have to ask first. I may be asking another Canadian member of this board for a favour also...if the news on Monday is good.
